There arose in me a natural fear of the dark as a child, husbanded to all the unseen horrors only a child sees after being tucked in to bed by a indulgent mother. This fear became unknown in my wild teenage years as I spent the majority of my nights outside of the comfort of my bedroom and about town with friends who also held an agnostic disregard for sleeping with the rest of the Central time zone. Other than a sinking feeling that arose on foggy nights, I rarely experienced the superstitous fear of those who believe in such nonsense.
